Soul Diggin' : Lost Grooves & Forgotten Gems Vol. 2

As a record collector and music editor, living in Amsterdam, I spend a lot of time in record stores all around the world. Last years I visited small independent shops in L.A., San Francisco, Las Vegas, Cape Town, Berlin, New York and Barcelona - perfect places to find rare vinyl records. Those diggin’ adventures inspired me to start ’Soul Diggin’, a mixtape with lost grooves and forgotten soul-gems from the 60s, 70s and 80s.

The second part of this series starts with Michael Orr & Carey Harris. Their album Spread Love was originally released in 1976 on the Detroit based Sunstar label. Largely ignored when it was first issued, it has since gained cult status among soul collectors worldwide. Inspired by the musical vision of Quincy Jones, Michael Orr and bass player Carey Harris assembled a cast of musicians and vocalists to create a timeless masterpiece which effortlessly blends soul, jazz, funk and gospel influences.
